Our neighbors in LA county have experienced tremendous devastation because of the fires that are, in some places, still active. As a community committed to participating in acts of mercy for the common good we have developed the following opportunities to engage in acts of mercy:
PRAY
Thank God that loss of life was minimal
Ask for weather conditions to shift in positive directions
God’s comfort with those who have suffered loss, and who are mourning
Pray for a focus on mercy, that people will come before politics
Pray for firefighters and first responders
God’s wisdom & discernment for those helping
Pray that the hope of Jesus is felt through His church
PRACTICAL
1. Giving Financially
We have set up a specific fund to collect contributions over here. Mercy Commons will match all donations to LA fires relief efforts up to a maximum of $10, 000. Money will be distributed specifically to local people and organizations that we as a church love, know and trust:
Robert Cruz, Antioch Church. (an Advance partner)
Brad Sarian, Restored Church, LA
John Lo. Epicenter Church and member of the Clergy Community Coalition
The YMCA
*Mercy Commons will match donations to LA fires relief efforts up to a maximum of $10, 000.
2. Giving Goods
Due to the generous response from our community, we are no longer taking physical good donations at the YMCA.
Through our partnership with the YMCA Fullerton, we are able to give specific items that those impacted by the fires are in need of. Just drop off your donations at the front desk.
3. Giving Time
There may be future opportunities to volunteer in person. We will let you know if and when these opportunities arise.
