Visiting a church can be intimidating. What is a gathering like? Where do I park? What should I wear? Where do my kids go? We understand the many thoughts that can come from visiting a new church, so we want you to feel completely comfortable when you visit.
SOME COMMON QUESTIONS:
Where are you located?
Every Sunday at 9:30 am we gather in the Fullerton YMCA to worship God, proclaim His Word, and strengthen the Church.
What should I wear?
We can be described as casual but as our guests, we want you to be comfortable and at home at our Gathering. Come as you are and wear what you normally wear. We are thrilled that you are joining us and want you to be more focused on the gathering rather than what you are wearing.
How do I get there and where do I park?
We know it can be tricky to find the Fullerton YMCA. Here are a few tools to help you get there.
Where do I go once I have parked?
When you arrive, there will be a couple of friendly greeters outside the main doors of the Fullerton YMCA. There you can receive more information about where to go, where your children can go, and how to find out more about Mercy Commons.
WHAT TO EXPECT ONCE OUR GATHERING STARTS:
Worship: We Celebrate Jesus.
We begin our gathering with worship through music. We sing about Jesus, who He is, and what He has done for us. A band leads worship using contemporary songs, hymns, songs from other churches, and original songs that musicians in our community have written.
Preaching: We Preach Jesus.
Jesus is the only one who can change lives, so He is the center of all of our sermons. Many times we preach through the text verse-by-verse, and occasionally we will focus on a specific subject found in the Bible. To hear a message, visit the sermon page. Every Sunday we teach from the Bible, and the Bible is all about Jesus. We believe that faith comes from hearing scripture, God’s word, so we will preach it as much as possible.
Engagement: We anticipate the Spirit to speak.
We believe in “the priesthood of all believers.” That is a fancy way of saying that at times during the Gathering a member of Mercy Commons may share an encouragement, prophecy, word of knowledge, or offer prayer for a specific person, situation, or opportunity for physical healing. God speaks primarily through His word but also uses His people to speak through what are known as gifts of the Holy Spirit. After the Gathering there is usually a time to respond through communion, receiving prayer, or meditating on what God has said. We will have trusted leaders available to offer prayer should you need it.
Kids: We Partner with Parents.
We believe that it is a privilege and a responsibility to partner with parents as they actively disciple their Kids in the way of Jesus. Our kids meet each week in various rooms throughout the YMCA, including the Kids Zone to the right of the Gym. As you walk in the front door, you will see a bright orange kid’s check-in station. This station is where someone will be available to answer your questions and help you check your child into Kid’s ministry if you wish to do so. To learn more, visit the kid’s ministry page.
Community: We Live Like Jesus.
We believe that God has called us to be more than just a Sunday meeting. We are a community that seeks to follow Jesus together, engaged in each other’s lives. After every Sunday we gather for coffee and conversation to the rear of the YMCA. Here you can meet with some of the pastors and leaders who would love to hear your story. You can also learn about Next Steps and learn more about our community. We also meet in homes scattered around Fullerton. We call these Life Groups. There is also the opportunity to join us at “Let’s Do Lunch” where some friendly people meet in Fullerton to have lunch and get to know you.
