Devotional Questions

  1. In the past week what has your relationship to patience been like? What sorts of situations make it hard for you to practice patience and long-suffering?

  2. As you reflect on these situations, why is it hard for you to be patient? What thoughts and feelings do you have? Do you notice any consistent patterns of thought in these situations?

  3. What ways do you see Jesus practicing patience in the gospel’s? Is the patience he models comforting to you or frustrating, why?

  4. How might Jesus be inviting you to be patient in the next week? How might he be inviting you to be patient in the next few months? What are some ways you can respond if you find yourself becoming impatient?

Take some time to pray around the patience of God. 

Pausing to slow down and be sensitive to the Spirit and aware of ourselves.

Rejoicing that God is patient with His creation and that through the empowerment of the Spirit we can also be patient.

Asking for the Spirit to renew our minds so that we may know more fully the patience of God. That we would be a dependent on him for patience, and patient with ourselves as we struggle with impatience.
