James: Show No Partiality

 

"My BROTHERS and SISTERS, show NO PARTIALITY as YOU HOLD the faith in our Lord Jesus Christ, the Lord of GLORY. " Where do we go wrong? We allow cultural pressure to dictate our actions. We all have blind spots. We treat people as an IT rather than a THOU. Remember John 15:7-12, "If you abide in me, and my words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. By this my Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit and so prove to be my disciples."

Life Group Questions

  • How does your view of your personal worth as a follower of Jesus impact the way you see others?

  • In the past week where have you seen yourself showing partiality towards another in thought, word, or action?

  • Within the life of Jesus where do you see Jesus showing or not showing partiality? How does Jesus respond to others?

  • Shawn mentioned that we all have blind spots, take time to invite the Spirit to show you where you might have a blind spot and invite God into what He might want to speak to that blind spot.

  • Re-read John 15:7-12, and spend time speaking truth of who we are in Jesus, for help to see others as worthy of being loved, and for wisdom to show impartiality in a culture of partiality.
