Genesis | But I Am About to Die

Nick Saltas / Genesis 25:19-34

This week we look at Jacob and Esau and see what the process and ramifications are of making decisions for short term gain that lead to long term pain.

Sermon Questions

This week we are calling all commoners to gather for prayer on Wednesday evening at 6:30 p.m. at the Fullerton YMCA. Here are some question for your personal reflection:

  1. Can you recall a time in your past when you felt like you were pretty sure you could not survive whatever situation was happening or about to happen? (example: I thought we were going to die if we had a third child.)

  1. How did that situation play out? Did you just avoid it or did you make it through it? Looking back does it seem like you trusted God in the midst of your trial or did you start looking for short sighted solutions?

  1. Take a moment to contemplate what you have just recalled about this past experience, season or moment of your life. We spoke this Sunday about how Esau’s moment of despising his birthright eventually became apart of his very person and Character. As you recall your thoughts and actions during that season think about what God has shown you and consider what you would do differently or the same the next time something like this occurs?

  1. Lastly, how can we use what God has shown us through our lives and His word to make sure no-one falls short of the grace of God?

“Strive for peace with everyone, and for the holiness without which no one will see the Lord. See to it that no one fails to obtain the grace of God; that no ‘root of bitterness’ springs up and causes trouble, and by it many become defiled”

See you all Wednesday evening at 6:30 p.m. as we call upon the name of our Lord in prayer.
