James: Warning the Wealthy

Hoarding vs. Saving – Jesus helps us to see where our hearts are drawn away from God. What am I doing with the resources God has placed in my hands? God rescues, redeems, and invites His people to do the same.

Reflection Questions

• What is your relationship with money like?

• How did your family teach you to think about money? How has being a follower of Jesus effected the way you think about money?

• As you meditate on the Exodus, is there any way you feel an invitation from the Spirit to think about money and God's ability to save people?

• Three (there are more) practical ways we can press against the way the world views wealth were given. The three were 1) making sure we are generous and providing a liveable wage to people, 2) advocating against taxes which favor the rich, systems which can take advantage of poor people and 3) making ethical clothing or other product purchases to make sure the people who make our goods have liveable wages. Which one of these do you feel an invitation from the Spirit to join God in.
